Ever since the popular hit reality show on TV3, Mentor, was introduced no single eviction passes without any controversy, public out-cry, destruction of materials and the usual media and public criticism.
Last Sunday was no exception as Erico pulled below 10% and was ?surprisingly? kicked out of the Mentor show but with one surety ? stands the chance of returning next week. The night?s performance was still not the expected level set by the two previous editions but many are those who say comparing the old and the new is a very wrong thing to do.
From Mentor 1 right down to Mentor 3 the contestants who are able to gain a considerable amount of public acceptance and are termed as the fans favorite do not stay in the house for long. They are either evicted mid way or get to the final and disaster strikes. Names such as Okurasini Samuel, Isaac Show Boy, Paullette, and Sandy easily comes up when ?strange? such evictions are made but the rational behind their evictions are best known to the organizers.
The proportion of 30% to the judges and 70% to the audience has been a subject of debate anytime the fans-favorites are evicted. But TV3 remains adamant and are not giving any convincing evidence for the percentage gap. Is it realistic? Well your guess is as good as mine.
Next week has been tagged as eviction free and that allows one of the six evicted contestants to return back into the competition. Who becomes the lucky one lies n the hands of the public who can vote back their favorite contestant.
On the list waiting to be re-instated are Gina, Nana, Paul, K-Gee and Erico. The list should have been six but Bright self-evicted himself even before the real evictions started. Would the contestant who is voted back repeat the record set by Prince the winner of Mentor 2?
Nonetheless, the eviction party for Erico returns back to the home of eviction parties that is the Yegoala Nite Club this Saturday and as usual the house would be packed with fans and hiplife celebrities passing through. K-gee had a rather cool party at the Oceans Nite Club at North Kaneshie and had Nana and Vic of Mentor there to give their support.
