An array musicians would from August 23 storm the Mfantseman District to churn out non-stop music for thousands of merrymakers from various parts of Ghana as part of activities marking this year’s “Borbor Mfantse Afahye” celebration.

The artistes would give renditions on platforms in the Mankessim and Saltpong townships.

Included in the line-up of activities is the Mfantseman Food Bazaar at the Mankessim school park, where various types of food would be on sale.

This would be tailed with a street carnival at the Mankessim Car Park on Friday, August 24.

The programmes, organized by Strategic Communication Limited in collaboration with the Mfantseman District would on Saturday August 25 organize a grand durbar at the Victoria Park in Saltpond.

This would be chaired by His Excellency President John Agyekum Kufuor under the patronage of Members of Parliament, District Chief Executives, Nananom and Members of the Diplomatic Corps, as well sons and daughters of Mfantseman.

The durbar would present traditional and contemporary dance groups, who would thrill the audience with traditional and choreographed dance pieces that would be accompanied by loud and complex African drumming.

There would as well be the programme - “State Dance and Star of Mfantseman” - on the day of the grand durbar at the Saltpond Educational Center, to search for and crown Miss Mfantseman. Many other activities, including games are expected to come during the celebration.

The celebration of the Borbor Mfantse Afahye festival is to foster unity in Mfantseman and also to announce the five traditional paramountcies in Mfantseman in readiness for the long-awaited economic development in the area.
