Ghanaian rapper, Nsemkua, formally 'Yaa Pono' has set records straight in the course of his name change from Yaa Pono to Nsemkua (funny Proverb).
A misunderstanding had degenerated following the name change when it was widely reported that Panji Anorf of Pidgin Music had expressed his disappointment at the name change.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Xfm 95.1, the Uptown Energy rapper said he had not left his old management team entirely as he is partially hooked on to that record label.
In his own words,“I am still a part of the Pidgin Music family, and I am a part of High Grade family. There has not been any outright movement to High Grade Family”.
Nsemkua also corrected reports that he had changed his name from Yaa Pono to Proverb or Pro.
He said “Proverb” is just the English translation of his new name; Nsemkua and not the name. The name, according to him is Nsemkua (funny proverb), which is his style of rap.
The Tema-based rapper has been the in studio working with artists like Sarkodie, Stay J and others, and he says “I do not write songs for them as it has been reported”.**
