Musicians and other arts people sometimes change their names for their re-branding and that is exactly what Old soldier, one of Ghana’s finest hip life artistes who came into the music scene in 2000 has done.
Old Soldier who entered the scene with the inspiration of his friend Castro has changed his name to Asa Khalifa.
He told Flex newspaper that Asa Khalifa was the name given to him by his parents because he is a Moslem.
“My real name is Abu-Bakr Saadiq Abdul Karim Khalifa but I have abbreviated it for the sake of my fans. I was given Old Soldier by my former producer DJ Amess when I brought my first single out while in the States. My completion of Armed Forces training in one of the barracks I can say influenced that name given to me by my management team,” he said.
Having moved to a new record label called JIIN Entertainment Asa Khalifa is out with a new song called ‘It’s too Late’ whose video is due next month.
“In some aspect of life, we have regretted one way or the other in life especially in our relationship. We normally don’t know what we possess until we lose it and when we try coming back, it becomes too late,” he explained the lyrics of the song.
He also added that people shouldn’t take others for granted when they should show them love for it.
He thanked all the record labels he has worked with for sustaining his carrier before he joined JIIN Entertainment and he was full of gratitude to DJ Amess for his contribution to his musical carrier and his welfare in the music industry.
