The 2008 Nescafe African Revelations made its first stop in Kumasi in its bid to unearth musical talents in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions of Ghana.
The auditions which took place at the Royal Basin Resort was overtaken by musical groups who thronged to the venue to prove to the judges that they were the next ambassadors of the N.A.Rmusical talent hunt.
The judges comprised of ace music producer, “Morris Babyface”, Abraham Ohene-Djan, high life star Charles Amoah, James Oberko, a presenter at Luv FM, and the brand Manager for NESCAFE, Hafsa Arthur. Contestants went through various phases of singing and dancing and were selected based on their creativity and delivery.
Eight final contestants 2 Pesewas, Kete, 051, OB34, 2 Natural, Website, A ni ne ba, and Kopow made it to Prempeh Assembly Hall for the final showdown to select the two final representatives for the region.
The final show was massively-attended as music lovers defied the rains and filled the venue to witness the event. Hip-Life stars K.K Fosu, Okra, Reggie Zippy, Kofi B, Ahinkwa, Kwaw Kesse, and the last NAR winners, Traffic, entertained the teeming crowd with their hit songs and literarily brought the house down.
The eight final contestants went through three phases of the competition to perform self-composed NESCAFE song and also perform their group song in acapella and with instrumental accompaniment. The groups Kopow and Kete were the winners and first runners up respectively for the Ashanti/Brong Ahafo region.
This news was greeted with wild appraisals from the crowd who had supported the two groups’ massively from the beginning of the show.
