Okyeame Kwame fondly reminisced about how his journey in music started approximately 29 years ago and how he has maintained viability all these years.

The Hiplife legend mentioned that when he finished senior high school in 1995, he adopted the routine of rehearsing for four hours every morning.

In his Facebook post, he indicated that he constantly witnessed live band music rehearsals, hunted for assorted rap music, read magazines on Hip-hop culture, and fervently asked God to make him a successful rap artist.

Fast forward to 1999, Okyeame Kwame and his music partner, Okyeame Quophi, together known as Akyeame (The Linguists), won the topmost award at the foremost music awards show in Ghana, the Ghana Music Awards, now called the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

As a solo act, Okyeame Kwame won the trophy in 2009.

“Today, I still get nominated and win awards. I am grateful to all who supported me along the way and appreciate you (my fans) for the love for my work,” he remarked on his Facebook timeline.

The 48-year-old singer-songwriter and author conceded that his song "Insha Allah" with King Paluta was up against tough competition in the 2024 TGMAs Best Hiplife Song category, but he remained optimistic about emerging victorious by God’s grace.
