The expectations of up and coming artistes to achieve breakthrough in music circles has always seem a difficult task for some, but 24-year-old hip hop artiste, P Kay, believes he has got what it takes to win public admiration with his new single, Laimomo.
The new single which has begun receiving airplay is about the way ex-couples always have a thing for each other and the right approaches they use to rekindle their love.
Laimomo is a high tempo offering rendered in Twi, English and Ga languages. Its fast tempo and rhythm fused with Alkaida rhythms make the song pleasant listening.
Paying close attention to the song brings to mind feelings of a lost love and P Kay does well to sustain that feeling with interesting lyrics such as "Get close to me my old love".
In an interview with Showbiz, P Kay, who describes himself as a versatile artiste said he learnt the rudiments of music working as an underground artiste for a decade.
He said he would not relent in his efforts to gain public recognition through his music.
“It has been a long journey from my days as a contestant on ‘Rap Battles’ on Vibe FM, way back in 2005 and I think I am now matured for the game now” he said.
P Kay; real name, Ernest Ofori, had a stint with music as a member of the hip hop duo, Greenfield. However, the group had to go their separate ways due to differing views on the future with regards to their music career.
"I do music for the world because it is my dream to win a Grammy. Even though some music artistes are doing their best, none has hit the world stage and I want to be the first Ghanaian artiste to pick up a Grammy," he said.
