Nana Quami, a popular Ghanaian and a London based artiste whose decision to quit music shattered many fans and relatives is now out with his sixth album titled “Power”. The promotion is set and kicking on TV screens and radio stations.
In an interview, he disclosed that he has recorded some English songs which would come out in December this year aside the new one on promotion. On those tracks, he featured some Jamaican artistes.
His first album “y’ate”, was recorded by Kojo Antwi, “odo shock” was his next appearance and was under Slip Music Productions by Mark Okraku-Mante. His third release was “Awo de me”, under his own NQ Record Label. The fourth album also under NQ bears the title, “Atea Adonko” and the fifth “Soja”, with “Onim onim” also on the same and later album.
As he set on his new promotion, the artiste declared that the sale of music is now scarier than ever due to the piracy rate in the system and urge the media to help curb this canker.
The musician shared grievance on how expensive it cost to record in Ghana as a developing country even than the developed nations. He expressed how pirates make huge money from the toil of musicians and in turn bring regrets to the mind investing artistes.
Touching more on his new album “Power”, he explained it as his ability to come out successfully with six good albums and with ten years experience in working with the industry. Beginning somewhere around 1996 with Kojo Antwi, The Music Man himself recording his first album, he deems it a credit to himself.
The new one “Power”, is under Universal Entertainment, a new record label in collaboration with NQ Records. Universal Entertainment, the artiste mentioned is basically taking care of all stuffs in show business among organizing of events. NQ Records extend its label beyond Nana’s songs with others as Boli, Nana Antwi, Snooky, among others.
He believes his songs storm the market due to his choice of lyrics that suite ladies and added that the heart of the nation is women and that has been his secret. The musician also declared that most of his storyline are real life stories. If not by persuasion from fans and relations, Nana would have quit music due to piracy and its related problems in the industry.
“Without holding concerts, there is no money in doing music now!” he exclaimed. He is soon coming out with a peace concert for election 2008 with artistes from Jamaica and a nationwide tour with this current album and would also raise money for deprived villages in the country. K. K. Fosu, Snooky, Boli, Nana Antwi, and Nana Batie are featured on this album.
