Ghanaian artistes Sarkodie and Stonebwoy will battle each other to find out who wins the ‘African Artiste of the Year‘ at the 2016 Headies.
They face competition from South African rapper Cassper Nyovest, South African producer DJMaphorisa and Kenyan group Sauti Sol.
The category, organizers say “is a non-Nigerian award category for an individual African artiste or group with the most outstanding achievement, impact and infiltration into the Nigerian music scene in the year under review.”
The Headies (formerly known as the Hip Hop World Awards) is an awards scheme that recognizes outstanding achievement in the Nigerian music industry. It features performances by established and promising artists.
The first edition of the awards scheme was held in 2006.
Winners go home with a 21 carat gold statue.
