Attention hiplifers: Want your next album to have mass appeal? Call either 2Face of Nigeria, Skwatta Kamp of South Africa, Tony Tetuila of Nigeria or DJ Awadi of Senegal.
That was part of VIP’s thinking with ‘I am in love with two women’, a single track which will be on their album titled ‘Odo Electric’ set to hit stores in July.
‘I am in Love with two women' features hooks by Tony Tetuila. VIP and Tony appear in the video, which is pretty, fashionable and clean enough for TV. It's far from their 2003 album ‘Ahomka Womu’.
VIP describe this track as a combination of street records, party records and feeling records. They say it will help them reach the listeners that got left out with their last project.
In an all-star winning collaboration featuring 2 Face and DJ Awadi of Senegal on the same album, VIP is set to explode worldwide with their highly anticipated upcoming album 'Odo Electric’.
Soon, be sure to catch a Felix Dakaat directed video of the three tracks- the video of VIP with 2 Face will be filmed on the beautiful road to Nigeria and the video of VIP with DJ Awadi will also be shot in Ghana and Senegal. The three videos will of course feature onscreen performances by VIP, 2 Face, Tony Tetuila and DJ Awadi so that should be pretty interesting.
The track with Skwatta Kamp of South Africa which was programmed by New York sensational DJ by name DJ Ruckus and will be mixed by Fart of Hush Hush Studios is something else. It seems that the single is about to make its way into the playlists of popular radio stations in Ghana. In case you have not heard the track, then try and get a feel of it on Joy FM.
The surprising thing is that this track was finished on Sunday May 28 at 11:00pm after beginning on that same day at 12:00pm. The video of this track was shot at the Aphrodisiac Night Club and was directed by Felix Dakaat and Confidence (owner of Aphrodisiac Night Club).
They are great performers; I can’t deny that. With all the energy they have in their body, they outperform nearly everyone in hiplife today. They have a seemingly effortless ability to hype up the crowd.
I have seen them take the stage at diverse Ghanaian events, African events, International events and at homogeneous Accra clubs. Whatever their audience, they give out their full 100%. Certainly, they have a magnetic quality that draws people towards them.
Then there are the connections and the money that back them. They are featured on Ghana Music.com, in Africa Report (the most recent article in the May 2005 issue), and with Goodies Music Productions behind them, their videos have a slick and polished look that make other hiplife artists salivate.
The album will be released in July and launched on November 5 at the Accra International Conference Centre, November 6 at the La Beach and will also be launched in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, London, U.S.A and Senegal.
The crowd movers will be touring the country and other parts of the globe and will also be performing in France (at a show being organized by Alliance Francaise) on August 5 and 6, in London on August 20 and 28 (a show organized by Zones PR) and on December 3 in U.S.A at the World AIDS day.
If you’re a VIP fan, definitely check out this album. If you’re intrigued by VIP and their life, I also recommend it. And if you don’t care about VIP, I'm impressed you're still reading this review.
