Grey, Nkonyaa & Kotchoko Have you ever wondered or thought about the rappers Reggie Rockstone featured on the ?Mobile Phone? track? Well on Ghana Music.Com you would definitely get an insight on these young dudes namely Nkonyaa, Grey and Kotchoko.
The ?Mobile Life Boys? as given to them by the Godfather of Hiplife, Reggie Rockstone are set to show the whole world the real definition of Hiplife in Ghana. They are all individual rappers on their own but hope to come out with a compilation album very soon. For now let?s talk about them individually.
Nkonyaa Nkonyaa (rapped first on the track about Bushke of Vibe FM), was born in real life as Johnny Torsah Amu to an Ewe family from Agotimee. He only has one lovely sister he cares so much about. He had his elementary and J.S.S at Osu Salem Road and continued to City Secondary Business College. His hobbies are listening to good tunes from hiplife and ragga artistes. For records, the name Nkonyaa means ?Miracles? or ?Wonders?.
He started ragging in school and says Lucky Dube has inspired him a lot. Speaking to Ghana Music.Com he says ?He?s always in touch to anything that concerns hiplife music, so fans should just call him on his cellphone ? 233 24 4441574.?
Kotchoko Kotchoko (rapped second on the track about Abeiku Santana of Adom FM) was born as Isaac Mensah to Mr Kwame Ntiamoah and Madam Akosua Aniniwaa. He is an Akan who comes from Akim-Oda. He had his elementary education at Methodist B/A Primary and J.S.S and proceeded to Akim Swedru Secondary School (AKISS).
What he does on his leisure times are basically listening to hiplife and hiphop music and hopes to further his education in Computer Science to be a Computer guru. From his childhood, he started doing copyright songs and says he prays over his lyrics before he unleashes them onto a track.
Grey Grey (rapped third on the track about Bola Ray of Joy FM), calls himself Grey because he?s got grey hair. This young lad who is always spotted with afro or braided hair was born to Mr Asare Karikari and Salomey Oyeh in Accra as Thomas Antwi. He changed a lot of elementary schools but stayed for a long time at Base Ordinanced Depot and proceeded to Nifa Secondary School.
His hobbies are movie watching, rapping, clubbing and 'combing his hair'. For him he wants to be a full time musician and hopes to become a big music icon.
Grey and Nkonyaa have been childhood friends for ten years and later met Kotchoko at Reggie?s Residence. The guys decided to work as a team after Kotchoko featured on Reggie?s ?Se Eye Mo De?, a track he had to be auditioned with music giants like Mensah (Producer of The Last Show Album), Victor and Mike (Kassa Records Engineer) and felt so delighted when he was chosen.
Reggie Rockstone came out with Hiplife but they are coming out with a new style of hiplife which is equivalent to hiphop music and commercial. Their composition of lyrics are understandable to the general public as Kotchoko fuses Ragga with Twi, Grey, more of Twi and Nkonyaa rapping in Twi and Ewe.
Accra has heard the voices of the ?Mobile Life Boys? on Reggie?s ?mobile phone? track but it?s now time for Accra to hear them alone. Kotchoko started his rap career by competing in some competitions like Miss Kotoku and a show organised by a computer firm at Akim-Oda which he had to rap about ?Serial Killings? and in all he emerged the winner. Nkonyaa and Grey also started by performing on most S.S.S occasions and competitions. That's how they got into the hiplife game.
These young guys mean business and if you want to contact them, just email them at kotchoko@yahoo.com or kotchoqo@yahoo.com or call this phone number ? 233 24 4591560.
If you don?t know them well, they have been to ?Shaggy?s two concerts?, ?Spacefon Legend?, Vibe FM?s Street Carnival, ?Trade Fair Musical Concerts?, ?Joy FM All Star III? and every where that Reggie Rockstone performs his ?Mobile Phone? track. The trio is currently promoting themselves in the media, they have been to Adom FM on Dr. Duncan's show and Kwaku Ananse's show on Vibe FM to give a good account of themselves.
The trio is also thinking of unleashing a compilation album which will stun the Ghanaians because of its rich lyrics. The cassettes will comprise 10 songs and 15 songs on the CD. Stay tuned because Ghana Music.Com would definitely bring you an exclusive information on them when the compilation or new album is ready.
They all want to give shout outs to Reggie Rockstone, to Almighty God, their parents and lovers of the Mobile Phone song and should watch out for their compilation album and solo tunes very soon.
