Call me crazy but I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today and spontaneously decided to “bore” my readers with some fun stuff about our popular presenters. Let’s take a break from all the criticism and serious talk to have a little fun with weird features you wouldn’t consider noticing about these broadcasters.
Hop aboard and join me on this crazy roller-coaster.
Have you ever wondered why popular morning show hosts Kwame Sefa Kayi and Komla Dumor always shave off every bit of hair on their heads? I do too but I generally believe it is baldness and not fashion.
Betrand Bannerman-Menson (B.B. the Virus) of Radio Gold has a passion for everything black. Mysterious, isn’t it? I even hear everything in his room is black including the color of his bed-sheets (I’ve not been there, I only heard from someone close to him) If you doubt this, just go over to the Laterbiokoshie-based station and you would see him wearing an all black outfit.
To many, black depicts sorrow but to B.B., “black is adorable. It’s African”.
Talk of fashion? Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) also of Radio Gold seems to have the most sophisticated culture about the right dress for the right occasion. He always wants to look outstanding wherever he goes and he allows his sense of fashion dictate that. Iso (the Iceman) of TV3, too, doesn’t only have a good sense of fashion but is also conscious about the kinds of cars he drives (they have to be sophisticated).
I just wonder why Bola Ray usually wears a cap to cover his “bola” head but rather is keen about exposing more than half of his muscular biceps by rolling up the sleeves of his short-sleeved T-shirts all the time.
The freakiest fashion I have encountered in my life was sported by social commentator Kofi Wayo. If this man was not known to be wealthy, I would have just dialed 911 the moment he showed up in my studio. Who could ever think of wearing a three-piece suit with a tie and jogging trainers to match and walk into a TV studio? All the same, he believes “Hey, emancipate yourself from mental slavery before thinking of fashionable stuff that won’t bring you good water, electricity and three-square meals a day, right? Ha ha ha”
Talk of heights. I can’t really tell for sure who is the tallest presenter but ask me who is the shortest and I would say that there is a tie between Kwame Faakye of Atlantis FM and Nana Agyemang Prempeh of Channel R. And talking about Channel R, does DJ Abio want to be titled a Rabbi? The very day he shaves off his long beard, I am sure that would be the day of Armageddon.
Despite being bashed for her use of profane and vulgar words on air, do you know that “Bad Girl” Delores Frimpong-Manso (Delay) has rather gathered more lovers than enemies? Her popularity has grown tremendously over the past few years and who is responsible for that? Oh, ye men of…..
Vibe FM has the most interesting names for presenters. Some of the names are funny and this contributes to the station being “the soul of the capital”. Just three of those names would put your mind at rest: “DJ Kanto” (Ga word for knee), “G-Unit” (if you know where I am coming from) and “The Wolf” (gee, they even have wild animals)… kudos Vibe FM.
No hard feelings but do you know that Felix Vanderpallen of Sunny FM is the worst truant I have ever come across in this field? He takes short breaks every now and then from work. For once, he is in school or writing an exams or working on his project. I visited the gospel station recently and I was told he isn’t working there anymore. Where could he be this time?
If our society encouraged polygamous marriage, Chris Attoh could be called the “modern day King Solomon”. Apart from our dear old Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD), Chris’ job as a presenter has brought him into literally “close” contact with tons of gorgeous babes… Ei, Chris Attoh, you dey enjoy your singleness well well oo. Okay, enough for today, I will go back to sleep now and please pray that I wake up on the wrong side of bed again, that is if you enjoyed reading this piece.
