Yours Truly, Dede of Smash TV and Vibe FM

Dede Esther Dede Mante also known in TV and radio circles as Dede has always made something out of nothing, thus Dede always grabs opportunities that come her way.

Smash TV late last year needed someone to co-host the show with Jon Germain. She went for an audition with 30 ? 40 people and guess what she was chosen. The new improved Smash TV local Entertainment segment is been hosted by her which she exquisitely does because she believes that you have to put all your best into what you can do best.

Asked about her biggest highlight hosting Smash TV? ?It?s hard to name just one,? begins Dede, but there are few of them which I loved interviewing and they are Rita Marley, Bibi Winnans, Hawa Yakubu and the 1st Lady of Namibia and other great moments? she said.

Although her biggest splash in the media pool has come from Smash TV, she has also been into the radio aspect of the media. Dede?s radio thing started when she was in her teens, hosting a teenage programme at Vibe FM. She continued by reading news and hosting the Big lunch in the afternoons on Vibe FM. From there she hosted Trak Haus, a musical programme that was shown on GTV.

Dede is also thinking of going into acting after she finishes her language courses at Ghana Institute of languages. ?I think I have the raw talent and always talking to the right people? she said. I might do a follow-up to GIJ or NAFTI.

Dede laments bitterly about the rate at which the highlife music scene has gone done. ?Highlife in Ghana is dying and I wish they (highlife musicians) could feature some of the hiplife artistes to hype their songs for them?, she said.

She used to co-host ?Different Mix? with Kwaku Ananse on Vibe FM but she stopped to take up her own show. Different Mix was a show that listeners loved her when she did what she knew how to do best ? backing of musicians when they come on the show.

Ghana Music.Com asked her that if she had a chance of bringing some foreign musicians to Ghana who would they be? ?Thinking for a moment before answering, she said I would definitely love to bring Jill Scott, Macy Gray or Erykah Badu because I love soul music which gives meaning life.

Dede credits her mum, saying ?she is very supportive and helpful in my media career. She is understandable and has decided not to disappoint her?.

Dede who has her star as Leo was born on 18th August to Madam Jessica Annan and Mr Emmanuel Mante. She is a Krobo who has one direct brother and three other step siblings. She loves talking, reading, swimming, and backing of musicians when she is less busy. She schooled at

Base Ordinance Depot, Labone SDA, then to Accra Girls and presently at Ghana Institute of languages.

If Dede had a golden opportunity of working at a foreign TV or radio station it would definitely be Music Television (MTV), Channel O or Black Entertainment Television. She could be contacted by email at llikky23321@yahoo.om or phone on 233 24 4608927.

Dede welcomes criticisms and advices from people because she knows that she can?t please everyone at her radio and television presentations.

Dede who is a very fashionable young lady is always spotted with very long braids and had this to say ?people see me as a tom boy but I want people to know that I am feminine and also very feminine with guys?.

Dede will be hosting ?Between the Sheets? very soon but will be having her new show commencing after George Brun or Giles Bossman comes from London to take over Traffic Jam and Kwame Fakye taking over Between the Sheets. Her new programme will be a jazz show where she will be playing Ghanaian jazz most of which would be in common Ghanaian languages, for when she will start stay tuned to Ghana Music.Com for more.
