At this point in the regular season, French League Pro A side Champagne Chalons-Reims campaign is going just as planned following a big offseason.
The side lie sixth in the 18 team standings after finishing 16th of the regular season last year only missing relegation from the elite division by a spot.
However, following offseason acquisitions of Ghana Forward Ben Bentil and 2016’s French Pro B Coach of the Year Cedric Heitz, Reims is faring better with three wins in five games.
On a personal note, Bentil’s time in France up to this point has been inconsistent particularly his shooting where he has fluxed from scoring 23 points to clinching eight points.
In the team’s first away win of the campaign, an 80-69 win over Boulazac, Bentil scored nine points and went scoreless from three point range; he attempted and missed four shots in the game after scoring three of 16 field goal attempts.
Renowned for his shooting prowess coming out of Providence College and a brief stint in the NBA with Dallas Mavericks, Bentil’s shooting is yet to be reliable and he can turn it around beginning tonight against Limoges.
