Milo Junior Basketball ends

Accra, March 30, GNA - The second edition of the Under-14 Junior Basketball competition for Basic Schools has ended at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, Accra at the week-end.

In a grueling final game, Hoops Care Academy of Cape Coast defeated Garrison Basic School 25-18 to win the competition.

The lads from Cape Coast demonstrated well rehearsed basketball technique, quick passes, excellent formation coupled with quick thinking in the game right from the start and took an early 10-3 lead, despite stiff opposition from the Garrison Basic School boys.

In the end, Hoops Care Academy managed the seven point gap win to take home the attractive prize of GHC 400 at stake as well as products from the sponsors.

On their way to the finals, Hoops Care Academy defeated Great Lamptey Mills Academy in the semi finals match 14-12, whilst Burma Camp-based Garrison Basic Schools secured an 11-8 victory over Ghana- Lebanon Islamic School (GLIS) to reach the finals.

Great Lamptey Mills compensated for their loss of the ultimate with the third place award by beating GLISS 12-6 in their match. The finals attracted well-known sports enthusiasts including the Business Executive of Nestle Milo, (Central and West Africa), Mr Daniel Yapobi, former WBC Super Featherweight Champion, Professor Azumah Nelson, Director of Sports at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Charles Aryeh, Category Business Manager - Beverages Central and West Africa Region, Samuel Safo and Brands Manager of Nestle Milo, Jude Ekow Addison. Ghana's hiplife sensation, Stone of Bradez fame thrilled the fans with his 'Simple' display performance. The Milo Junior Ball Championship has been sponsored by Nestle Milo - the energy food drink for future champions with support from Indomie-tastes great, Voltic, GTV, Joy FM and Ghana News Agency. 30 March 10
