2-time Commonwealth champion, Charles Adamu AKA the Crusader continues his comeback on Boxing Day, this Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium when he faces Stephen Abbey in a warm-up for an expected crack again at the Commonwealth Super Middleweight belt he previously held.
Adamu whose career began way back in 2001, had been absent from the ring since losing the Commonwealth title to George Groves back in 2010. But Adamu says he has been inspired to return to boxing because of the desire to end Ghana’s current world title-less status and has already fought 3 times since returning with a 5th round stoppage of Francis Mensah back in June.
Now he fights again in front of the massive crowd expected to throng the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday night on the Streetwise Promotions boxing show which is headlined by the ABU Lightweight championship between Richie Commey and Prince Ofotsu.
“All Ghanaians should come and watch the return of Adamu the Crusader. Expect a new Crusader who is ready to challenge the world again. He’s back because he is sad Ghana has no world champion that’s why he has returned to win a world title for Ghana,” says Abdul Mohammed Samadu whose All for One Sports Promotions now manages the boxer.
Mr. Samadu, speaking along with All for One Promotions Secretary, Joe King Mahmoud, added: “Everybody should watch out for Adamu next year when he will challenge again for the Commonwealth title. He is ready to win back the title and move on to take on the best in the world.”
Another boxer from the All for One Promotions franchise expected to fight on Thursday is Ernest Amuzu, the West Africa Middleweight champion who defends the title against a yet to be named opponent.
