African Boxing Warriors Converge On Ghana

Over one hundred top-notch boxers from all over the African continent will converge on Accra to participate in a boxing extravaganza dubbed the Warriors of Africa competition.

The boxers will come from ten countries including Nigeria, Benin, Uganda and South Africa. The World Boxing Organisation, which is the sanctioning body for the event will provide African championship belts for all thirteen-weight categories.

The competition, slated for August 23 -29, will be topped by a world title fight on August 30.

The WBO African representative, Queen Irene Sumbo Kutin says the winners of the Warriors of Africa competition will be given shots at the world title and the opportunity to compete against the best from the rest of the world.

The warriors of Africa competition is being organized by Boxing One Network, a Las Vegas based promotions syndicate and Sikaprix promotions, which is based in Ghana.

The Ghana Boxing Authority is the local sanctioning body of the competition and it will be held under the distinguished patronage of boxing legend Professor Barima Azumah Nelson.
