Accra, Aug 10, GNA - George Ashie, the latest boxing sensation on the local scene has set his eyes on facing Amidu Abudulai, National and West Africa Lightweight Champion.
Ashie, a discovery of the 2004 Mortein Boxing League, aims to use the fight to catapult himself into top flight professional boxing, hence his decision to throw a challenge to Amidu.
Ashie's exploits in the Mortein League and his potential as well as Amidu's credibility, is one of the most dreaded boxers on the local scene having demolished the likes of Ben Ankrah and the match between the two clearly makes the fight a must watch duel.
To make this dream a reality, Ashie will take on Samuel Danso in a final eliminator bout on September 6, at the Kaneshie Sports Complex in Accra whilst Amidu is also expected to fight Smith Odoom for the National and West Africa Super Featherweight title on August 27. Ashie who would also fight under the auspices of Ambitions Boxing Promotions and the Commonwealth Sports Awards on a night dubbed "The Bragging Rights" has vowed to put the breaks on Amidu anytime they pitch strength against each other.
Others boxers scheduled to fight under the same bill are Bilal Mohammed and Ben Ankrah in what has been described as "who is who". The two have engaged in two previous bouts, which ended prematurely without a clear-cut winner.
Whilst Bilal could not turn up for the first fight due to stomach problems, Ankrah opted out of the second round before the start of the fifth round also complaining of abdominal pains.
