The President of the Ghana Boxing Authority Peter Zweenes says the turn of events regarding the much-anticipated bout between Bukum Banku and Ayitey Powers may discourage Corporate Ghana from supporting the Sport.
The fight dubbed “Judgment Night," has faced a series of setbacks.
Ayitey Powers insisted Prophet T.B Joshua instructed him not to fight on the original April 18 date.
The Organizers came out with a new date only for it to coincide with the imminent ban on drumming and noise-making by the Osu Traditional Council.
“It sends a very wrong signal to cooperate bodies who want to come on board to help” Mr. Zweenes said.
But after a series of meeting with the Osu Traditional Council, the fight has been shifted to May 15 instead of May 16.
On Monday, the two boxers called on the Promoter to increase their purse to 50,000 each before they mount the ring and Mr. Zwenees doesn’t think the turn of events will convince Corporate Ghana to support Boxing in the country.
“All they will be asking themselves is; are these people we want to commit ourselves to” Mr. Zweenes added.
