"Banku" is ready

The title holder of the African Boxing Union (ABU) Braimah Kamoko popularly known as "Bukom Banku" has disclosed on 23rd September, 2008 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, " my opponent Abdulaih Ramdan from Sudan will last for the 8 rounds warming up match, because I will show no mercy to him and I can promise him that he will kiss the canvass before the final round and if he is able to survive through the 8 rounds , then just after the match his management will rush him to the nearest hospital"

" I am going to hit him very hard,, jab him, out pace him, always move towards him, combat him, he will see and fill very powerful punches, I will definitely out box him and beat him beyond recognition" Bukom Banku stressed.

Bukom Banku noted that he has won all 23 fights including 19 knock outs and the rest he came out as a winner with unanimous decisions. He is the sixth contender to the World Boxing Council (WBC) title.

He plans to fight the title holder of the (WBC) light heavyweight at a Venue and a date that will be decided later.

In an answer to his upcoming fight, Bukom Banku had this to say, "I am using this fight to put myself into a better condition. I may fight another warm up match before I face the title holder next year. I can assured my family, fans, and Ghanaians that, I am a powerful puncher , fearless and aggressive fighter”

On why he chose boxing as a profession, the ABU champion had this to say,” I eat, sleep, wear, bath, and drink boxing. In fact my blood flows with boxing and I have never regret taking boxing as my Career.

I always pray to the Almighty Lord to help me so I can reach the zenith of my profession and have my name written in annals of boxers of the world.

According to Bukom Banku, he started boxing from his infancy at the age of 15 at Bukom a suburb of Accra and I was inspired by the former heavy weight Champion Mohammed Ali, for his courage and ring craft.

Bukom Banku revealed that,” I respect Azumah Nelson, D.K. Poison, Ike Quarter, Joshua Clottey and I pray that the unity among us will continue to be there always. I do consult them before some of my fights".

In an exclusively interview with this freelance reporter ,at my house in the Bronx, New York last weekend ,the fearless fighter appealed to the Government, the Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) and Philanthropists to help him get a better sporting equipment.

When asked how he came by the name "Bukom Banku" the ABU Champion revealed that his lovely mother cooks and sells banku, a Ghanaian delicacy, at Bokum a suburb of Accra in Ghana and he this made it easier for him to take and accept the two names.

Mr Carl Lokko, the trainer of the Champion who accompanied his ward to this reporter's house maintained that he has been the trainer for Bukom Banku for the past 4 years and his ward is a self disciplined, respectful, determined warrior, who is God fearing, and hungry for honor.

He trusts him to deliver whenever he mounts the ring.

'If one aims to be a champion or a challenger, then there is the needs to be very serious with training, and discipline, and these are the hallmarks of Bariamah Kamoko who will need the prayers, support, advice and words of encouragements from all and sundry" Mr Lokko noted.

"I am urging all the Ghanaians in the USA ,especially those who are around the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut areas to come to the Hammerstein Ballroom in their numbers to drum, sing, clap, and bring the colors of Ghana with them ,since the warrior Bukom Banku will lift the flag of Ghana high" the boxing trainer appealed.
