FEATHERWEIGHT champion Eric Odumasi failed in his second attempt to win the Commonwealth title when he was stopped just 14 seconds into the 12th round by the champion, Scottish Scott Harrison, who had his dream fulfilled by being decorated with the belt by his idol Prof. Azumah Nelson.
Though a cut above the left eye in the sixth round was effectively controlled by chief trainer/second, Charles Tackie-Komme, it still gave Odumasi lots of problems as he got caught many times with Harrison’s left hooks.
The Scottish, WBC ranked No. 6 and also IBO International Continental champion, having won it from Smith Odoom in 1999, commended Odumasi for putting up a good fight.
Present to give support to Odumasi at the Belfast Waterfront Hall were ex-boxers Danjuma and Judas Clottey and Tennis Star Frank Ofori.
