Accra, July 6, GNA - The Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) has ordered three national champions to undertake mandatory title defences within 60 days or face sanctions.
In the latest ratings of the GBA released in Accra on Wednesday, Moro Tijani, the national super lightweight champion was pitched against Isaac Quartey in a mandatory title defence.
Ben Odamettey, the national featherweight champion has been mandated to fight Samuel Danso in a title fight, same as super bantamweight champion, Anyetei "the chameleon" Laryea who must defend his title against an unnamed boxer within the stipulated time. The GBA has also announced three other pairings to fill vacancies in three weight categories, which had been without champions for quite some time now. The fights must take place within 90 days.
The number one contender in the light heavyweight division, Brimah "Bukom Banku" Kamoko has been matched against the fourth contender, Michael Gbenga for the vacant title.
To fill the vacancy in the middleweight division, the GBA has ordered George Amuzu, the number one contender and the number two contender, Mohammed Bameyi to slug it out, with the winner ascending the throne.
Thomas Awinbono who is ranked fifth, will have an opportunity to wear the national super welterweight championship belt when he engages Ishmael Tetteh in a duel for the vacant title.
