George Lamptey eyes Ghana Amateur Boxing Vice Presidency

Boxing enthusiast and administrator, George Lamptey says he is the best candidate worthy of getting the nod of Ghanaian boxing coaches and administrators as he bids to become the 1st Vice President of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF).
New leaders for the administration of Ghanaian amateur boxing will be voted into office at the GABF Congress on December 22 following the resignation of Ambassador Ray Quarcoo at the helm of affairs earlier this year.
A host of aspirants for various positions including the President, 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Organiser among others were variously vetted and approved only last week to stand for election, belling off earnest campaign by the various aspirants for executive positions.
George Lamptey who is the incumbent 1st Vice President of the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) which produce the majority of boxers to feed the Black Bombers (Ghana national amateur boxing team) and in effect lots of eventual professional boxers, says his time has come to help lead the sport at national level.
The GABF 1st Vice President aspirant says an administration with him will devise and institute new and modern tapping, training and development of boxers at young ages to instill the rudiments of the game and discipline that can only enhance future success for this country.
"I have dedicated my life to boxing, 25 years following this sport and four years experience in management position. I am reliable, hardworking and I promise dynamic leadership when I become the 1st Vice President by the grace of God," George Lamptey toldAllsports.com.gh exclusively.
"We have done a lot for boxing but there is still more to do, it's time to move Ghana boxing to a new level. We promise to win more medals for Ghana at international competitions like the Olympic, Commonwealth and All-Africa Games," added Mr. Lamptey, a graduate of the University of Ghana who works at the Ghana Airport Company Limited.
George Lamptey is standing for the post of the second most powerful man in the running of amateur boxing in Ghana against three others.
"I am humbly appealing to our coaches and delegates to believe in me and the good work I have done for the past four years as GAABA Vice President. Let's move forward with the same hardwork and dedication to GABF," affirmed Lamptey, an Old Vandal of the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana.
