Peter Zwennes President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has revealed that Ghana does not lack potential world class boxers and very soon a Ghana would rule the world again. Speaking to yours truly in an exclusive chat, the man who is noted to be a winner in all endeavors he undertakes said despite the least number of promotions in the country, he believes the nation has the boxers. He named boxers like Manyo Plange, Fred Lawson, Emmanuel Tagoe. Richard Commey, the Samir brothers, Patrick Allotey, Braimah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku and others as some of the boxers he trusts to make big name for themselves and the nation. Peter Zwennes was not happy that some people were of the view that boxing was dying in Ghana, or the sport has been knocked out. He explained that most attention had been given to football by the Ghana Sports Media and it is time that the journalists and sports analysts talk about boxing. According to Peter Zwennes, it is only boxing that has brought real honours to Ghana when Professor Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey, Joseph Agbeko, Joshua Clottey and others won world titles. He noted that the pugilistic sport is very hard to engage in and boxers need much support, but they lack many things, including media attention, training equipment and others. The GBA President said efforts are being down to revive Ghana Boxing. He commended the Media Committee of the GBA for working hard and assured the public that Ghana Boxing will rise again. He hinted that on December 26, Bukom Banku will thrill fans again at the Accra Sports Stadium as his opponent for an impending fight could not make the medical test. According to Peter Zwennes, the much expected fight between Bukom Banku and soldier man Peter Napari has been rescheduled. By Sammy Heywood Okine
