Hon. Tackie-Komme declares ambition to be Ghana Boxing President* With agitations ongoing for the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) to go to congress and elect executives, Hon. Wallace Nii Tackie-Komme, Ag. Chairman of the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association has declared his ambition to become the next GBA President.
Hon. Tackie-Komme, also Chairman, Youth and Sports sub-committee of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly where he is assemblyman for Shiabu Electoral Area, says he is the right man to revive Ghana boxing by taking the sport to the professional level befitting world standards.
He is pledging to collaborate with coaches to organise boxing series for professional boxers to keep them active even as world title opportunities remain the target of his intended administration.
He told SportsInGhana.com: "I was born into boxing, my father used to coach Azumah Nelson and I have managed over five professional boxers. I want to become the President of Ghana Boxing so that I will promote professional boxing in this country to the highest level.
"I will push our champions for world title fights. I was in the USA last year already to talk with potential investors and I can assure Ghanaians that we will take boxing to a high level."
The man who has managed not less than five boxers from amateur ranks into professional level and continues to unearth talents as well as introduce businessmen to the sport, also reveals that he has the backing of very prominent authorities and investors.
"I have the full support of the AMA boss and we are already planning to build a boxing arena which we already have the land. There are also some very good friends with big companies who are all willing to come on board.
"This is the time for Ghana boxing to rise up and shine, we need more world champions and that is just what my administration will deliver," Wallace Nii Tackie-Komme has promised.
