It's crossroads time. It's showtime and indeed the 'Royal Storm' is ready to rumble as his quest to annex a substantive and credible world title for Ghana on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 'The Liacouras Center, Philadephia, USA gets closer.
The World Title road
For Dogboe, this journey has been a very long one and the brightest spot for Ghana's boxing could make his dream come true when he battles the reigning and undefeated World Boxing Organization (WBO) Junior Featherweight champion Jessie Magdaleno (25-0, 18 KOs) in fiery contest that would certainly thrill boxing fans considering the quality nature of these two boxers.
The undisputed champion has a 100 percent in his illustrious career and he was relentless, against in his bout when he defeated Mexican contender, Cesar Juarez WBO Interim Junior Featherweight title at the Bukom Boxing early in the year as he become the young Ghanaian World Champion at the age of 23.
Many people have doubted his quality as boxer especially when he emerged on the Ghanaian boxing scene considering his size, but he has certainly proved his critics of wrong with his dazzling and scintillating performance.
Dogboe is tasked with carrying the dwindling fortunes of Ghana boxing to another high as various attempt by other Ghanaian boxers to annex a world title has failed so far.
Magdeleno's breakthrough came against Nonito Donaire back in 2016, as he annexed the title via unanimous decision and handed Adeilson Dos Santos a knockout when he defended the title back in 2017 and has not been action since then.
Quotes
Prior to the fight, the camp of both boxers, traded verbal punches and jabs outside the ring as they seek to win the psychological battle. Here some few quotes from both camps.
“We are going for a knockout,” Senior Dogboe said in a video he posted on Facebook. “Isaac Dogboe is going there toe-to-toe, but we know Magdaleno is going to run like a crazy chicken.”
“We know he is going to run, there is no way Magdaleno is going to stand and fight with Isaac, i don’t see it coming.”
Magdaleno on the other hand says, “I’m mentally ready. I’m physically ready. Being here with {trainer} Manny Robles keeps me ready. The sparring has been great, but I get impatient sometimes and just want to get in the ring for real. I have to stay calm and wait until the fight comes.”
Qualities
Dogboe’s effective and dangerous left hook could prove crucial against his opponent who usually displays speed and agility in the ring. Dogboe is a very smart boxer who plays his cards well in the ring, he knows how to manage his endeavours in the ring with regards to energy and stamina.
Magdaleno, has certainly got the height advantage over Dogboe and is a rangy fighter and has more bouts under his belt which could be an advantage. The southpaw boxer really has an awkward style of fighting and has big left hand and has the ability to through ferocious high combination punches.
This fight remains one of the biggest fights for Dogboe and Ghana at large and he might not have the ARS church around the boxing ring, but the Ghanaian boxing entourage, are certainly behind and hopefully he would make Ghana proud and announce his presence on the World stage.
