Ghana’s Isaac Dogboe (18-0, 12 KOs) will have to wait a little longer for his title shot versus WBO world super bantamweight champion Jessie Magdaleno (25-0, 18 KOs). Magdaleno-Dogboe has been moved from April 14 to April 28, and will now take place at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The bout was originally set to be the co-feature to Terence Crawford’s showdown versusJeff Horn. That entire card, which was scheduled for April 14th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada, has been postponed because of an injury to Crawford’s right hand during a sparring session.
Crawford was to face WBO world welterweight champion Horn in the main event. This would be Crawford’s first fight at welterweight; he’s won titles at lightweight and super lightweight.
Manny Pacquiao was to be on this card as well but pulled out several weeks ago. According to Pacquiao’s publicist, he felt slighted at fighting on the undercard of the main event that included Horn, who won the WBO title via controversial decision over Pacquiao last July.
Crawford’s injury isn’t supposed to be too serious According to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, the card will likely be rescheduled for May 19 or early June and will remain in Las Vegas.
Magdaleno-Dogboe has found a safe resting spot two weeks after the original date and will be the main event on that show.
