Kuwornu steals show at GAABA Championships

Accra, May 3, GNA - Victor Kuwornu, a product of Accra-based Bronx Gym, made the headlines during the Week Six of the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) League, which came off last Friday with his crafty skills and technique. Kuwornu nicknamed after Ghanaian ace comedian and actor "Agya Koo" was the toast of the fans at the Prisons Canteen as his swift combination of hooks and punches saw him cruise to a unanimous victory over Samuel Akurugu of Wisdom Gym in a lightweight clash. Throughout the scheduled four rounds, Kuwornu dominated his opponent and his confidence was aided by the chants of "Agya Koo" from the fans. In the same division, Attoh Quarshie's Evans Dodoo defeated Enoch Adjei of Fit Square via unanimous decision, whilst Daniel Amarteifio also of Attoh Quarshie defeated Mathias Sulley of Square Deal courtesy a split decision.

In the Featherweight division, Duke Micah of Fit Square outclassed Musaraman Lawson of Wisdom Gym after emerging top on the score cards of all three judges.

Attoh Quarshie's Isaac Sackey beat George Krampah of Bronx Gym via a split decision, whilst Emmanuel Quartey of Fit Square was declared winner after his opponent Joshua Barnor was disqualified for consistently hitting the abdomen of the former. In the light welterweight division, Will Power Gym claimed a double, as Joshua Addy and Ben Lamptey defeated Eric Ameshokor and Abbass Zakaria of Attoh Quarshie and Fit Square respectively. Ashaiman Gym's Felix Agbozo knocked out Fit Square's John Tant in the third round, after subjecting the latter to severe beatings. In the middleweight division, Charles Stella of Attoh Quarshie overpowered Ebenezer Tetteh of Sonia Gym via a unanimous win, whilst Maxwell Amponsah of Jah Bless maintained his unbeaten run in the heavyweight class by defeating Mathew Nandoli of Wisdom Gym via a unanimous decision.
