Quaye Fails To Win Title

Australian lightweight champion Allan Luxford (17-3) captured the WBF Lightweight title when he scored a knockout over Theophilus Quaye (11-3-1) of Ghana at the Wyong Leagues Club, Wyong, New South Wales, Australia on Friday.

Luxford was the aggressor from the opening bell and delivered a hard left hook to the jaw of the importation who took the full ten count at 1 minute 6 seconds of round one.

Luxford has only suffered three losses, to Ranee Ganoy of the Philippines by knockout in five rounds in 2005, Mick Shaw by point loss in eight rounds in 2004, and John Cotterill by ten-round decision in 2003.

Luxford first captured the Australian 135-pound title when he stopped Mick Mlacic in eight rounds in 2004.
