Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour Awuah has announced that government has from January 2017 and March 2018 has created over one million(1million) jobs in the formal sector.
He made this assertion during the May Day celebrations in Kumasi on Tuesday.
Mr. Baffour Awuah said the jobs, which are mainly in the formal sector, has helped reduce the unemployment rate in the country.
He also assured that more job opportunities will be created by government.
“The government has made significant strides in addressing unemployment in Ghana. Between January 2017 and March 2018, government has facilitated the creation of 1, 960,404 jobs and this happened within the formal economy.”
Hitherto, the President, Nana Akufo-Addo had launched the Nations Builders Corps to employ graduates in various sectors of the economy.
It will see 100,000 graduates employed in various sectors of the economy.
