Atik Mohammed, a former PNC General Secretary, has criticized the Akufo-Addo administration over its "1 District, 1 Factory" policy introduced in 2017 to transform the economy.

The "1 District, 1 Factory" initiative aimed to establish factories across the nation in fulfillment of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's promise to industrialize the nation.

Joining the Friday panel on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, Atik Mohammed described the policy as "brilliant" but argued that the government has failed in executing it to lessen economic pressures.

To him, "the idea of 1 District, 1 Factory was not a bad one but, in my view, it was poorly implemented because we allowed politics to take control."

He advised the government to concentrate on the "cottage industry," which he believes will directly and positively affect the lives of the citizenry.

"...let's focus on medium enterprises that have interest in manufacturing," he stated.
