The Minister of Railways Development, Joe Ghartey, has revealed that 200 companies from around the world have shown interest in investing in Ghana’s railways sector.
Some of these companies, Mr Ghartey said, are coming from China, Germany, New Zealand, United States of America and others.
Speaking at an event on Monday, 7 August, Mr Ghartey indicated that by the end of 2020, the entire railway network in the country would be developed.
“Over 200 companies have shown interest in the railway sector from all over the world – America, Switzerland, New Zealand, Germany, China, Ghana. This year we have started the design of the Western rail line from Kojokrom.
“We have also started the design of the Western Standard Gauge Railway line from Kojokrom towards Tarkwa and beyond.
“By December 2020, this nation will see that the nation has been transformed and one of the pillars of the transformation will be the railway.”
