Ghana is the first African country to host the World Resources Forum which comes off in June 2020 at the Accra International Conference Center.

The conference hosted by the Ministry for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) will feature high-level plenary sessions, parallel workshops, scientific sessions, as well as side events.

The event will be combined with a Circular Economy mission organized by the DG Environment from the European Commission to promote synergies and business opportunities between Ghana and the European companies.

The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng mentioned that Ghana’s partnership with the World Resources Forum has attracted very important global organizations and institutions. He also admonished stakeholders to take part in the upcoming conference slated for June 23rd to 25th 2020.

“We are tackling the menace of plastics in a comprehensive manner under a programme that will make Ghana a regional center of excellence when it comes to the sustainable management of plastics”

Speaking at the launch of WRF2020 at the residence of the Swiss Ambassador, Philipp Stalder, President of the WRF Association, Bruno Oberle, explained that; “The World Resources Forum is offering the possibility to specific issues, to get together and reflect on what is to be done in the next future…we were never in Africa and this was a mistake… Africa is one of the big actors in terms of feeding the supply chain with natural resources and Africa I am sure is one of the actors of the economical change we need in the next couple of decade”.
