The running mate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has stressed that Ghana is currently in the worst economic crisis, and one of the key solutions is former President John Dramani Mahama's 24-hour economy as proposed by the NDC.

Addressing members of the NDC Professional Forum at the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region as part of her three-day campaign tour of the region, she revealed that Ghana is broke and needs a quick fix.

"We don't have money, our currency is heading to a bad place, we can't pay our debt, and we are in a crisis worse than we can imagine," she said.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said that with the high unemployment rate in the country, the 24-hour economy policy by the NDC and the National Apprenticeship Programme are the best solutions to the country's challenges.

She said the unemployment rate in the country is causing Mr. John Dramani Mahama sleepless nights, hence his decision to push for a 24-hour economy to provide decent jobs for Ghanaians.

"Some people claiming to be economists are deliberately saying it won't work and that the NDC hasn't thought it through well, but interestingly, the same people are now saying their government is already implementing the policy," she said.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang explained that political campaigning is about the sharing of ideas and urged the NPP to also tell Ghanaians what they can do for them and stop peddling falsehoods, adding that their 1 cedi, 2 cedis mobile phone purchase can never qualify as a policy.

She urged Ghanaians to vote massively for John Dramani Mahama in the December 7 general elections to enable him to fulfill his promise of creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.
