250 Ghanair Staff Fired?

250 workers of Ghana Airways will proceed on leave this week, as the new management task force move to review the staff structure of the airline, which is critised for using 1,200 employees to maintain 3 aircraft.

The news comes shortly after the Custav A Mate Azu led task force rejected the proposal of US based Ghana International Airlines to become the strategic partner to Ghana Airways.

Among other demands, the GIA team, led by the CEO of World Transport Group Inc, Ralph Atkin, was demanding upfront equity of $7m from the Ghana Government, without putting a pesewa up themselves upfront.

Meanwhile, a new team is expected in Ghana, latest by next week, to present a management proposal to run the airline. The new team comprises Ethiopian Airlines, Kenyan Airways and KLM, which has just entered a merger agreement with Air France.
