The Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMT), has discounted allegations that it breached several procurement laws in the acquisition of some 300 new buses.

A petition presented to the Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu, against the Managing Director, Bennet Aboagye by one Lawal said to be the company’s Head of Security accused the MD of colluding with the Board Chairman, Ahmed Arthur over several financial malpractices and also breached several procurement laws.

Lawal who’s demanding the immediate dismissal and prosecution of the Managing Director, had also alleged that, Mr. Aboagye and a leading member of the NPP Dr. Amoako Tuffuor attempted to bribe him with GHc40, 000 when he confronted them with his evidence.

But speaking in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM, Corporate Communications Manager at Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMT), George Krobea Asante, described as unfounded the allegations of rot and corrupt deals against management.

“The procurement department so far as I am concerned has not breached any procurement process. However, if anybody is in doubt, they can come, we will show you documents that will confirm that we have gone through the stages and we have not breached procurement processes.” he stressed.
