A total of 51 cybersecurity service providers, professionals, and establishments have been certified and accredited by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

This comes on the heels of the regulatory framework rolled out by the Authority on March 1, 2023, to license Cybersecurity Service Providers (CSPs), and accredit Cybersecurity Establishments (CEs) and Cybersecurity Professionals (CPs), in pursuance of the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), sections 4(k), 49, 50, 51, 57, and 59.

The certification and accreditation of these CSPs, CPs, and CEs are to ensure that their services rendered to Ghanaians are in accordance with approved standards and procedures.

Meanwhile, the license for Cybersecurity Professionals is renewable annually, and that for Cybersecurity Service Providers and Cybersecurity Establishments is valid for two years.

Speaking at the licensing and accreditation ceremony in Accra on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, the Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority, Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, stated that the Authority has so far registered 226 CSPs, 56 CEs, and 1,353 CPs.

"As per our mandate in Sections 4(k), 49, 57, and 59 of the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), the CSA has a duty to regulate cybersecurity activities within the country, which includes the licensing of Cybersecurity Service Providers (CSPs), and the accreditation of Cybersecurity Establishments (CEs) and Cybersecurity Professionals (CPs) respectively," Dr. Antwi-Boasiako added.

He noted that all defaulting institutions and individuals will face appropriate sanctions, including criminal prosecutions and administrative penalties.
