The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) on Saturday, 28th July 2018, brought together some business professionals at the ACCA Annual students summit and job fair to educate students on becoming strategic business leaders in the future.

Speaking at this year’s summit, Charlotte Forson, Partner in charge of Audit and Assurance at Deloitte & Touche indicated that one of the essentials required in becoming a strategic leader having technical know-how and applying ethical principles in all you do.

According to her, technical and ethical quotients are the center around which everything evolves.

“…you can come from any background but once you decide to choose to be in a particular field, get the technical,” she said

“The technical must be the bedrock and ones you start the path to study never let it stop, keep being hungry for knowledge because that is what will keep you sharp and fresh,” she added.

Micheal Nyarko, the Manager for Risk-Based Audit at the Bank of Ghana urged students to have a clear picture that can propel success in their career.

He said “anticipating what will happen in the next five years and then discounting or bringing it back to today I can ask myself what are the things that I need to do as a professional accountant to be able to be competitive and stay relevant in the industry that I’m working for me kept and continue to keep me awake because, we are in the world that we can’t even predict the next day, and therefore you really need to think ahead and prepare yourself for today and to me that is what has kept me”.

Hayfron Aboagye, Assurance Partner at PwC Ghana admonished students to be abreast with existing and emerging digital technologies, capabilities, practices and strategies to become great leaders.
