Accra, May 31, GNA - African Ground Operations (AFGO), Ghana's leading cargo and ground handling Company, is now aviance Ghana Limited. This follows the incorporation of the company under the Company's Code of 1963 (Act 179).
A statement from the Management said the name change was part of a Change Management programme that would allow aviance Ghana to join the global alliance of airport services providers on July 1, 2004. Established in 1999, aviance is the first ever alliance of airport services providers in the world, giving the airlines with a co-operative alternative to the global handlers.
Membership of the alliance comprises independent ground handlers operating in over 100 airports across the world. It currently has nine members. aviance Ghana would become the 10th member and the first in Africa to join the body.
Members of aviance strive to minimise ground time in the provision of high quality services as well as ensuring excellent safety records to reduce claims.
The Directors and Management of aviance Ghana said the new partnership would lead to the provision of quality service to the benefit of the Kotoka International Airport. It would equally encourage and attract new airline operations to Ghana as the hub of the West Africa Sub-Region. The statement said aviance Ghana Limited was committed to the improvement and change in its services by way of new equipment, staff training and development programmes.
