AGI praises Late President Mills for development of local industries

The Association of Ghana Industries has praised the late President John Atta Mills for his passion for the development and promotion of local industries in the country.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday and copied to the Ghana News Agency said “the Association will recall that during the electioneering campaign in 2008, the late President, gave a speech in which he delved into the challenges facing Ghanaian industrial development.”

It said it was through the efforts of the late President that the country now has the Ghana Industrial Policy, Private Sector Development Strategy II and the Public Private Partnership Laws.

It noted that it was during his time as the President that the Association signed memorandum of understanding with government on the development of an Industrial Policy, Policies to increase Annual Growth Rate of the manufacturing sector, Passing of the Industrial Development and Competitiveness Bill among others.

The statement believed that the structured path the late President carved for the industrial sector would be sustained for the growth and development of industries.

The Association expressed their profound condolences to the former First Lady and the family of the late President and Ghanaians for this great loss.**
