In an effort to establish itself firmly on the West African market, the American Power Conversion (APC) has taken it's InfraStruXure product to the Ghana Information and Communication Technology (ICT) market.
This took place at the just-ended second Africa Regional Conference for the World Summit Information Society (WSIS) in Accra, Ghana.
Two major distributors of APC products in the country, Messrs Innocent Abba and Naana Pokua Manu, general manager, Saap-Tech Ghana Limited and Account's manager at ProTech Distribution respectively, gave brief background of APC corporate and power solutions, focusing on the importance of an available Network-Critical Physical Infrastructure (NCPI).
"In 2002, APC changed the rules for implementing an NCPI with the introduction of a new architecture known as PowerStruXure. PowerStruXure helped do away with complex power installations with modular, pre-engineered 'building blocks' that included necessary power and management components in a flexible, easy to use and service package," Naana of ProTech said.
They identified emerging information technology (IT) trends, saying that today APC, has developed a solution that is engineered for ease of use through standardised, modular components.
This Naana said, allows users to act quickly and keep pace with today's rapid business change.
On the InfraStruXure, Naana also said, the solution is an integrated architecture for the computer room/ data centre, incorporating the rack, cooling, power, management and services components that make the data centre's infrastructure an open and adaptable solution. InfraStruXure allows IT managers to choose from a number of standardised components to create a customised solution," Abba explained.
He went on to say that this approach provides the "reliability, affordability and predictability of standardised solutions, yet is completely customised to meet specific needs. It also allows additional capacity to be purchased and installed when needed; allowing a company to purchase only what is needed at present while still permitting future growth". For the district manager, Nigeria and Ghana at APC, Mr. Charles Iyo, the initiative for power solution company presence at the Ghana ICT event was based on APC decision to educate its Ghana clients on how to gain the best level of availability from their networks.
APC, founded in 1981, is a leading provider of global, end-to-end infrastructure availability solutions.
The firm's comprehensive products and services offering designed for both home and corporate environments, improves the availability, manageability and performance of sensitive electronic, network, communication and industrial equipment of all sizes.
