ASN Construction Limited, a subsidiary of ASN Financial Services Limited, yesterday handed over 14 two-bedroom terrace mortgage houses to staff of the Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC).

This follows the down payment of GH¢50,000 each by CMC on behalf of each of the 14 workers.

The workers, who have since moved into their apartments, would each spread the remaining GH¢35,000 over a period of 10 years.

Presenting the keys to the beneficiaries, the Deputy Estate Manager of CMC, Mr John Fredua Mensah, stated that the move is part of plans put in place by previous management of the company to motivate dedicated workers.

He indicated that it is also the desire of management of CMC to ensure that before a worker goes on retirement, he or she owns a home.

“We want to ensure that all retirees are comfortable after years of serving the company and are not rendered destitute,” he noted.

According to him, CMC is very delighted to have associated itself with a loyal estate developer like ASN Financial Services, and was ready to maintain the relationship for years to come.

Mr Mensah explained that after serving the company for five years and above, a worker becomes eligible to benefit from a mortgage.

The Managing Director of ASN Financial Services Limited, Mr Johannes Okutu, in his brief remarks, thanked the team from CMC for showing real faith in ASN.

He mentioned that ASN Construction, which began estate development some two years ago, was basically to complement government’s efforts to provide affordable housing for Ghanaians.

Mr Okutu used the opportunity to urge all Ghanaians to acquire properties from the company because it does not transact in foreign currency like other estate developers do.

The strategy by the company to transact or sell their properties in the Ghanaian cedis, he said, is to maintain the value of the properties they acquire as mortgage throughout the payment period.

He continued that it is basically to also make their houses affordable for Ghanaians, especially in this economic hardship.

A section of the beneficiary workers The Finder spoke pledged to work harder than before to help the company also attain it goals.
