ASSI delegation off to India

Kumasi, May 2, GNA - A six-member delegation of the Ashanti regional branch of the Association of Small-Scale Industries (ASSI) has left for India on a two-week study tour.

The Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) under its Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSAC) fund, sponsored the tour. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi at the weekend, Mr Kwame Buor, chairman of the association and leader of the delegation, said the tour formed part of measures to give members of the association an insight into policies and programmes on the promotion and development of micro and small-scale enterprises.

"We will also explore possible business avenues with the view to forming and strengthening mutual relationship between ASSI and sister associations in India", he said.

Mr Buor said the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) Limited of India would host the delegation.

While in India, the delegation would visit to selected industrial sites in the New Delhi area and also hold discussions with key officials of the India Chamber of Commerce and related bodies. Mr Buor stated that a seminar would be organised to brief members back home on the technological knowledge and skills acquired by the delegation.
