Recent media reports claiming that the Aboso Glass Factory in Tarkwa, Western Region, was sold for GH₵8 million have been denied by GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited.

The firm, which acquired the factory in 2019, has no plans to sell it, according to Kofi Jumah, Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries.

Rather, he disclosed that the plant is being revitalized, with hopes to resume operations by 2025.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Business News, Jumah underlined GIHOC's dedication to bolstering the facility's operational capability and infrastructure. He urged the public to ignore the allegations, calling them unfounded and deceptive.

"One story that was on your sister station is that we sold Aboso for 8 million cedis. That is a joke, and anytime I hear comments like that, I just laugh it off. And I don't think attention should be given to that".

"If people are gullible, let them take it, but one thing is that, eventually, we are going to have a huge factory there. We've spent a lot of resources and time; moving from Accra to Aboso alone is not easy," a report by citinewsroom.com quoted Kofi Jumah as saying.

One of Ghana's most important industrial assets, the Aboso Glass Factory, has been idle for a number of years.
