Accra, March 29, GNA - Five equities made substantial gains on Monday to push up the Ghana Stock Exchange All-Share Index by 44.87 points to 5,597.79 to bring the change for the year to date to 57.53 per cent. It had made a modest gain of 16.94 points during the Friday trading. Three other equities made some gains. Mobil Oil Ghana Limited (MOGL) led the pack with a gain of 498 cedis to close at 37,000 cedis; SSB Bank (SSB) and Unilever (UNIL) made 450 cedis each to close at 25,550 cedis and 18,500 cedis, respectively. Aluworks (ALW) and British America Tobacco (BAT) gained 300 cedis each to close trading at 8,900 cedis and 6,800 cedis, respectively.
Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), which held its Annual General Meeting on Friday, posted a 90-cedi gain at 15,200 cedis, while Mechanical Lloyd Company (MLC) had 75 cedis at 1,600 cedis with Fan Milk Limited gaining one cedi at 5,206 cedis. A total of 151,400 shares were traded with MLC selling the biggest chunk of 81,500 shares followed by Produce Buying Company (PBC) with 40,300 shares. ALW sold 14,800 shares while 7,600 GCB shares changed hands. Market capitalisation went up to 17,780.58 billion cedis for 3,077.07 million issued shares from 17,667.26 billion cedis for the same number of shares on Friday.
