Accra Brewery Wins Best Employer Award

Ghana’s premier beverage manufacturer, Accra Brewery Limited, over the weekend, clinched the ‘Best Company Employer Award’ at the maiden edition of the Ghana Industry Awards organized under the auspices of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) in Accra.

The award was in recognition of the company’s continued and impressive efforts even under very turbulent circumstances.

In a statement, Akature Ania, Human Resource Director of ABL, stated that the company wants to be admired for best long term growth, local value creation and quality of its product and staff.

He noted that the feat achieved over the weekend showed that ABL’s investment of over GH¢1 million in staff recruitment and training in areas such as management and technical skills acquisition had been beneficial.

This is in addition to the upgrade of the working environment for employees, which is currently on-going.

ABL currently employs 450 permanent staff but this is expected to increase to 500 before the close of the year. The staff strength excludes over 150 contract employees engaged through labour brokers.

According to Mr Ania, “This award will inspire us to do more in terms of the growth in our volumes and headcount. It will further spur us on to continue to achieve our strategic group vision of being the most admired company in the global beer industry, an investment of choice, an Employer of choice and a Partner of choice”.

Accra Brewery Limited (ABL), originally known as Overseas Breweries Limited, was established in 1931, becoming the first brewery in the then Gold Coast. In 1975, the locally registered Accra Brewery Limited acquired Overseas Breweries assets.
