Accra bourse gains 2.66 per cent on opening day

Accra, Aug. 31, GNA - The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) opened the week on a strong note on Monday with the main market indicator, the GSE All-Share index, appreciating by 278.23 points on the back of good performances of two financial stocks. The index closed up by 278.23 points at 5,900.41 points from Friday's figure of 5,622.18 points. Change for the year to date was better by 2.66 per cent at -43.44 per cent from -46.10 per cent on Friday. Traded volumes opened the week at 206,600 shares from Friday's close of 1,237,700.

Market capitalization appreciated to GH¢15,627.55 million from GH¢15,424.96.69 million. There were four price changes - three up and one down. Ecobank Ghana continued its surge with GH¢0.08 to close GH¢3.01; Ecobank Transnational was also better by GH¢0.02 at GH¢0.17; and SG-SSB gained GH¢0.06 at GH¢0.46. Ghana Commercial Bank, however, lost GH¢0.02 at GH¢0.80
