Accra bourse slips under weight of BAT

Accra, Jan. 24, GNA - The Accra bourse slipped on Monday under the weight of a 700-cedi loss by British American Tobacco in dull trading. The GSE All-Share Index, the main stock index, went down by 6.2 points to 6,892.81 from 6,899.01 points.

Change for the year went down to 1.39 per cent.

Shares that changed hands were slightly lower at 135,000 from Friday's 136,400.

There were four price changes, three up one down.

British American Tobacco lost 700 cedis at 7,000 cedis. Ghana Commercial Bank rose by 180 cedis at 11,880 cedis, Benso Oil Palm Plantation (BOPP) went up by 50 cedis to close at 6,650 cedis, while Mobil Oil Ghana Limited was five cedis better at 39,010 cedis. Market capitalisation closed lower at 97,877.92 billion cedis from 3,663.42 million issued shares.
