Accra picks up on EIC gain

Accra, Oct. 17, GNA - Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) continued to be the prime mover of the Ghana Stock Exchange as its 400-cedi gain on Monday pushed the stock index up once more.

EIC, which has risen consistently despite the bearish sentiments on the bourse, gained 400 cedis to end trading at 6,900 cedis. The GSE-All Share Index, the benchmark measure, climbed by 1.06 points to close at 4,887.75 points from 4,886.69 points. Change for the year-to-date went up to -28.11 per cent from -28.12 per cent.

Traded shares jumped to 641,700 shares from 134,400 with EIC selling 527,600 shares.

British American Tobacco (BAT) gained 10 cedis at 3,080 and Fan Milk was four cedis better at 15,625 cedis.

Market capitalisation ended up at 92,172.49 from 92,161.49 billion cedis.
