“Actyva” fertilizer introduced to maize farmers

Koforidua, July 20, GNA – Mr Richard Kwadwo Kombat of Yara Ghana, a fertilizer manufacturing company, has advised Ghanaian farmers to initially try out agricultural products before adopting the best one.

He said that would help them protect their investments in the face of the many agricultural input dealers and importers who were providing a lot of information.

Mr Kombat was interacting with members of the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions Seed Producers Association of Ghana (SEEDPAG), in Koforidua to explain the effect of “Yara Mila Actyva” in maize production.

He called on maize farmers in the country to use the new maize fertilizer, “Yara Mila Actyva”, which his company had introduced unto the Ghanaians market to help increase their yield and also protect the environment.

Mr Kombat explained that, the “Yara Mila Actyva” had a high nitrate formula that leaves less hydrogen irons in the soil during nitrogen transformation to the plant and thereby reduces soil acidity and makes it more environmentally friendly.

He said the new fertilizer also had some mineral elements introduced into the fertilizer which were very much needed by the maize plant but were not present in other compound fertilizers on the market.

He said for maximum effect, one needed to apply three bags of “Yara Mila Actyva” per acre, using one bag during the first two weeks after planting and the remaining two bags before tussling.

Mr Kombat said the new fertilizer was developed based on research conducted to find out the type of fertilizer that could impact positively on maize production in the country.
